Ladner-Beaudry killed in Vancouver
Wendy Ladner-Beaudry (53), wife of longtime snowsports writer, former coach and Ski Racing contributor Michel Beaudry, was killed April 3 while jogging near her home in Vancouver.
Beaudry, sister of former Vancouver city councilor Peter Lander, was a sports consultant, co-chair of the B.C. Games Society and a dedicated advocate of women’s sports.
“It’s hard to express the sadness in our family and Wendy’s wide circle of friends that we feel today. Wendy’s murder will only strengthen our desire to make this city a safe place for all our citizens,” Lander told reporters.
Up to 60 Vancouver police officers are currently investigating the attack and murder that occurred in a forested area of Pacific Spirit Park.
“Wendy was a very unique, giving volunteer and advocate in B.C. and our thoughts are with her daughters, Michel and the entire extended family,” said Dave Pym, managing director of the Canadian Snowsports Association.
