Economic woes force Rossignol to re-structure

Apr 24, 2009

According to Sportsonesource.com, French ski maker Rossignol is undergoing consolidations and reductions due to the current economic conditions in the winter sports market. As we reported late last month the reduction calls for a 30% workforce cut.

“Those necessary reductions, while painful, will also bring many of our best ideas and employees closer together to be more effective as we pursue our goals and improve on our core competencies,” said Rossignol’s North American President Francois Goulet.

The company, whose North American headquarters are in Park City, Utah, has recently re-allocated resources to improve production quality and reorganize its marketing effort to focus on its most profitable categories. The changes also apply to the company’s other skiing hard goods brands Dynastar and Lange. Each brand will now offer fewer but more distinctive products to consumers.

The group also plans to consolidate aspects of its sales, marketing and logistics departments.

The restructuring was announced to North American employees on April 22.
