Ritrievi resigns from post at USSA Foundation

May 06, 2009

USSA Foundation vice president Chris Ritrievi announced yesterday his decision to resign. Ritrievi, who worked as Associate Athletics Director for External Relations at the University of Utah before taking over leadership of the Foundation last fall, will be returning to a major college to head a development department.

In his position with the USSA, Ritrievi oversaw fundraising programs including both endowments and annual giving. He also managed endowment programs including the $60 million Legacy Campaign that provided support for construction of the USSA’s new Center of Excellence, a national training and education center that opened last Friday.

“While I’m disappointed to lose Chris, I also understand fully the importance passion plays in both an individual’s and an organization’s success,” said USSA CEO Bill Marolt.

According to Marolt, COO Dick Coe will step in to manage the Foundation until a replacement is secured. “We are fortunate to have assembled a great Foundation staff team, which will carry on the day-to-day work. Now, we must work together as a Team to build on our Foundation’s longstanding success to support our world-class athletes,” said Marolt.

Marolt added that he will seek “someone who brings a special passion for our sports of skiing and snowboarding, and understands how important this work is to the future success of our U.S. Ski Team and U.S. Snowboarding athletes.”
