AJ Ginnis has overcome knee injuries throughout his career, already enduring five surgeries on his left knee. Unfortunately, he will need to undergo his first surgery on his right knee after tearing his right ACL a few days ago.

The 26 year old Greek-American athlete was a member of the US Ski Team for seven years before announcing his decision to represent Greece beginning in the 2020-21 season.

As a result of the injury, Ginnis will miss the upcoming Olympic season and says that he’s “Devastated, upset, disoriented, and in a state of anguish.”

Injuries happen in a fraction of a second, but recovery is a much longer path. Ginnis is no stranger to this process, and he is clearly determined to find his way back on snow once again.

“And yet I’m going to fight, every fiber in my body wants me to keep going and that’s what I’m going to do. Even if this sport is brutal and a cruel mistress at times, I love it and refuse to walk away from it under these circumstances.”
