Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club (AVSC) is in search of an Alpine Program Director and a FIS Men’s Head Coach to join our dynamic and energetic Alpine Staff.  We are looking for individuals with exceptional leadership, impeccable organizational and communication skills, and an unwavering commitment to fostering the growth and development of young athletes within the realm of Alpine ski racing. Compensation is competitive with housing possibilities available.

Alpine Program Director

The AVSC Alpine program is crucial to the Club’s competitive mix. AVSC is a leading choice for training in mountain-based winter disciplines. It significantly influences the Club’s image, locally and within the larger world of competitive skiing. We want AVSC to be the premier Alpine program in the country. The program has complex training demands involving all local mountains and is active throughout the year.

The Alpine Program Director coordinates all aspects of the competitive Alpine program: training philosophy and its implementation, hiring of coaches, access to training venues, risk management, representation with USSA and RMD, coordination of events hosted, parent involvement, and budget to ensure:

  • The ongoing health of the Alpine program
  • An emphasis on AVSC core values
  • The realization of the full potential of Alpine athletes

The Alpine Program Director must exhibit the superior organizational, communication, and coaching skills necessary to oversee the development of approximately 200 athletes participating at various levels within Alpine’s team programs, as well as overseeing and managing around 30 staff each winter season. The director is expected to have a solid on-hill presence during the winter months.

Scope: The Alpine Program Director works under the general supervision of the Executive Director. They frequently interact with a broad spectrum of Aspen Skiing Company staff, the AVSC Board Program Committee, officials from USSA, FIS, and RMD, officials from Aspen and down-valley schools, and other parents, volunteers, and supporters. The Alpine Program Director is responsible for a budget of over $1,300,000.

Salary range: $100,000 to $130,000, based on experience.
