The Silver Run Ski Foundation, operating out of Red Lodge, MT, is a well-established 140-member winter sports team with Alpine races, freeride, Nordic, snowboard, and Masters programs. The club has a US Ski and Snowboard Bronze level certification. The Foundation is currently accepting applications for a director. The Director is the driving force behind Silver Run Ski Foundation’s (SRSF) growth and development and reports directly to the SRSF Board of Directors. His or her leadership and strategic direction will guide our programs, foster relationships with stakeholders, and ensure the success of our athletes and the overall organization.

The preferred starting date is August 1, 2025. The position is year-round, with winter months being busier that summer months,

Applicants should have a good knowledge of the ski and snowboard industry, have excellent management skills, have experience in relationship building, and have the ability to work with current staff and a board of directors. Experience with the non-profit sector is a plus. We are looking for someone committed to youth sports who can offer longevity in this position.

Key Duties 

  1. Lead SRSF’s long-term strategic business planning and growth initiatives in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
    • Serve as an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors to advise Board; attend meetings and provide regular reports.
  2. Cultivate and maintain relationships with corporate sponsors, enhancing SRSF profile and support.
  3. Serve as the liaison between SRSF and US Ski & Snowboard, fostering open communication and alignment.
  4. Develop and manage program budgets and coaching needs for Alpine, Nordic and Freestyle/Snowboard  programs.
  5. Set the future direction and structure of SRSF, identifying areas of improvement and innovation.
  6. Collaborate with the Board of Directors to address the organization’s needs and challenges.
  7. Maintain open lines of communication with Red Lodge Mountain, BRTA (Aspen Ridge Ranch)
  8. Provide coaching support as needed across Alpine, Development Team, Nordic and Freeride programs.
    • Assist coaches in scheduling practices and events to meet the commitments of Silver Run to its athletes. 
    • Design and implement the Silver Run programs which will provide athletes with the opportunity: 
    • learn techniques and tactics of skiing
    • improve the athletes physical readiness to ski; improve the athletes mental preparedness to ski and develop a sense of team spirit and teamwork among the athletes.
  9. Organize and lead parent meetings to enhance communication and engagement
  10. Represent SRSF on Divisional and National Boards and Committees, contributing to the larger skiing community.
  11. Define and communicate the program’s vision to all stakeholders.
  12. Support coaching staff at races, both at the Divisional and National levels.
    Maintain an up-to-date calendar for parents and athletes.

General Duties      

  1. Work with the Head Coach to assign on-hill duties, schedules and training plans to assistant coaches.                       
  2. Coordinate with Red Lodge Mountain personnel for scheduling on-hill training needs (i.e., grooming, lift operation, moving equipment, use of equipment).
  3. Coordinate course crew, volunteers and equipment management during Silver Run hosted events.
  4. Coordinate posting on the team web site and distribute emails for athletes, families.
  5. Facilitate and promote regular communication among athletes, parents, coaches and Board.
  6. Facilitate and designate video analysis for athletes, and sharing of them with parents.
  7. Organize and facilitate and implement means for athlete recruitment.
  8. Attend other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  1. Director is to know and meet the Responsibilities and Expectations as detailed in the Silver Run Employee Manual. 
  2. Schedule USSA Division, and IFSA events races at annual meetings; work with coaches, Board, Red Lodge Mountain to plan and calendaring hosted races (YSL; U16 and older invitational/college races; Hancock & White Stag races).
  3. Coordinate officials training to ensure an adequate number of officials for hosted races.
    • Coordinate with the coaches, volunteers, and Race Officials to set up and run all hosted races.
    • Schedule and conduct meetings of Race Organizing Committee per USSA requirements.
  4. Coordinate correspondence and advertising for informing potential racers and teams of pertinent information as to registration, lift tickets, and other race details.

Supervisory Duties

  1. Oversees coaching staff; conduct regular meetings with coaches.
  2. Work with Head Coach to schedule, conduct and record coaching staff evaluations mid and post season.
  3. Facilitate personnel changes, place advertisements, process applications and perform interviews with Board approval and participation.

Fund Raising and Special Events

  1. Assist in implementing a fundraising strategy with the Board. 
  2. Attend fundraisers, address attendees, and serve as a spokesperson of SRSF.
  3. Work in conjunction with Board and volunteers to schedule and carry out special events:
  4. Awards (Year end) and welcome banquets.
  5. Team BBQ’s and Hill Clean Up
  6. Fun Run
  7. Fourth of July Parade
  8. Dinner Auction
  9. Golf tournament
  10. Other events as scheduled
  11. Oversee the development, promotion and management of the Silver Run Summer Ski Camp.
  12. Schedule and present educational “Open House” sessions, athlete “chalk talks” with coaches.

Program Management 

  1. Work with the Board to develop and implement long range planning goals.
  2. Maintain and cultivate a positive relationship with Red Lodge Mountain through weekly meetings and other means.
  3. Assist and advise in the design, update, and distribution of the Silver Run and Race Camp brochures.

Office Management

  1. Work within the SRSF budget for duties and responsibilities outlined above.
  2. Report coaches hours to the payroll department.
  3. Manage SRSF insurance policies and renewals.
  4. Maintain personnel files.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Quickbooks, and Excel.
  6. Facilitate athlete billing in a timely manner.
  7. Facilitate accounts payable and receivable in Quickbooks.
