After the World Cup races in Adelboden, to prepare for the fabled Wengen Slalom, many of the world’s best SL skiers stay and train on the impressive Adelboden race hill. However, for a few lucky invitees, Crans Montana welcomes them to train and then participate in a fantastic invitational night exhibition event. For the athletes who attend, it is a unique and welcome break from the pressures of traditional FIS racing. The night race utilizes an exciting knockout format and provides an opportunity to win significant prize money. Indeed, most of the best racers in the world attend. This season the race was scheduled for the night of January 11th, 2023.

However, due to energy limitations caused by the current world situation, the organizers have decided to cancel the 2023 edition. It is an illustration of the Organizing Committee’s sensitivity to current issues. The organizing committee comments, “The current and expected power shortage with the required restrictions at all levels has prompted Crans-Montana to cancel the men’s night slalom on January 11, 2023,”

Let’s hope 2024 will return to normal and this entertaining event will again be calendared between Adelboden and Wengen.
