Dippy Hired As Assistant Alpine Coach at University of Colorado

BOULDER – Jake Dippy has been hired as the Assistant Alpine Coach for the Colorado Buffaloes Ski Team, head coach Jana Weinberger and Alpine Coach Ian Lochhead announced Tuesday.

Dippy comes to CU from the U.S. Ski Team, where he was the ski technician for Jett Seymour on the Europa Cup and World Cup level the past two years.  Seymour is the older brother of recently graduated CU skier Chase Seymour and is the top ranked slalom skier in the United States and ranks 33rd in the world entering the 2024-25 season.

“It’s really exciting to add Jake to the team,” Alpine Coach Ian Lochhead said. “I can’t understate how valuable it is to have someone come to us straight from the World Cup, and to have the highest level of skiing and professionalism fresh in his mind.  His expertise and experience preparing equipment on the World Cup will bring an immediate impact to our program.  Most importantly, he fits well into our team culture and will be a positive addition to the team environment.”

While at The U.S. Ski Team, Dippy worked closely with Seymour and others including Ben Ritchie and Luke Winters while developing an understanding for how an elite level team should operate and how to work with elite athletes in all areas of their lives to make them as successful as possible.

Prior to joining the U.S. Ski Team, Dippy worked with the U16 and FIS skiers at the Eldora Ski Club while attending the University of Colorado.  He has also worked as a ski tech at Mt. Hood, Oregon and in Vail. 

A Colorado native, he was born in Vail and skied competitively for Ski Club Vail from 2006-18 and attended Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy before graduating from Battle Mountain High School in Vail.  He enjoys being outside, camping, hiking and fishing in the summers and besides skiing in the winters, also does some wood working.

Dippy replaces Chad Wolk, who was the assistant coach the previous three seasons before moving on to coach at the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.
