Mikaela Shiffrin, the superstar of the Stifel US Ski Team, is set to make her much-anticipated return to World Cup competition this weekend in Åre, Sweden. Unfortunately, the Giant Slalom (GS) will unlikely be part of her Åre program. However, fans can still look forward to seeing her compete in the Slalom on Sunday, March 10th.

The ski racing community has eagerly awaited Shiffrin’s return to competition; she has been absent since a crash during a downhill race in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, on January 26th, 2024. Despite missing much of the season, she maintains a commanding lead in the women’s World Cup season’s slalom standings, holding a 188-point advantage over Germany’s Lena Duerr with two slaloms remaining on the calendar.

While Shiffrin seems poised to clinch the slalom title without skiing another race, her love for competition drives her to race whenever possible. Although her injury sidelined her from contention for the other season titles, her focus remains on making a strong comeback.

According to a recent information release from Team Shiffrin to the FIS, Mikaela is showing improvement in slalom and remains optimistic about her chances in the upcoming race. However, participation in the GS remains uncertain at this point. Stay tuned for further updates in the coming days.

Watch Mikaela Shiffrin hit the slopes this weekend in Åre, Sweden, as she aims for brilliance in the Slalom event, showcasing her unwavering determination and passion for competition.
