Ford Sayre Seeks Seasonal U12/U14 Coaches 

Ford Sayre, a growing ski club that supports over 100 youth Alpine skiers in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont, is seeking seasonal U12/U14 Coaches. 

Ford Sayre Memorial Ski Council is a 501(c3) organization established in 1950 to promote the sport of skiing in the Upper Valley. This seasonal position reports to the Alpine Head Coach/Director, Kate Anderson. Ford Sayre Alpine primarily skis at the Dartmouth Skiway in Lyme, NH, and Whaleback in Enfield, NH. The club includes members from a number of area towns and schools. 

Position: U12/U14 Coaches 

Position announcement: 

Ford Sayre is currently accepting applications for the position of U12/U14 Alpine Coach. The position is seasonal and requires the applicant to be based in the Upper Valley of Vermont/New Hampshire from November 1st, 2024 through March 31st, 2025. The successful applicant will coach the U12 and U14 male and female athletes. The U12/U14 athletes train midweek at Whaleback after school and weekends at the Dartmouth Skiway. 

Roles and responsibilities

● The U12/U14 Coach will work directly with the U14 Lead Coach and the club’s Head Coach/Director, as well as, other coaches to design and implement all aspects of pre-season and on-snow training and competitions in accordance with the club’s philosophy and training principles. 

● Run pre-season dryland and strength/condition sessions. 

● Plan, execute, and evaluate directed programming which strikes a balance between technical and tactical skills as well as free-skiing, coached drills, and gate training.

● Review and share daily video breakdown and feedback. 

● Help coordinate and run the Ford Sayre Thanksgiving Colorado camp.

● Help set the race schedule. 

● Coordinate and help run Junior Program competitions at the Dartmouth Skiway.

● Assist Head Coach/Director with venue management and safety. 

● Lead athlete equipment selection, preparation, and maintenance. 

Expectations

The U12/U14 Coach is expected to foster an environment that encourages athletes development, teamwork, and competitiveness in a rich-learning environment. The coach should have a strong ability to work with athletes across advanced stages of skill, age, and competitiveness. 

● Model professional behavior on and off the hill. 

● Ability to lift 50 pounds. 

● Knowledge of fitness for pre-season dryland. 

● Level 100 USSS Coach or willingness to complete training before the season begins.

● Adult and Child CPR/First Aid. 

● Valid driver’s license. 

Compensation and benefits

Compensation is based on experience with room for growth. This position is a five month commitment from November 1st, 2024 through March 31st, 2025. The U12/U14 coaches will be provided a ski pass at Whaleback and the Dartmouth Skiway. Benefits include reimbursement for mileage in personal vehicles and supported advancement in US Ski and Snowboard’s Coach Education Programs.

Ford Sayre Academy (FSA) is currently accepting applications for the position of U16/U18 Alpine Coach. The position is seasonal and requires the applicant to be based in the Upper Valley of Vermont/New Hampshire from November 1st, 2024 through April 15, 2025. The successful applicant will coach the Ford Sayre Academy (FSA) U16/U18 male and female athletes. 

Roles and responsibilities

● The U16/U18 FSA Coach will work with the club’s Head Coach/Director and other coaches to design and implement all aspects of pre-season and on-snow training and competitions in accordance with the club’s philosophy and training principles.

● Run pre-season dryland and strength/conditioning sessions. 

● Plan, execute, and evaluate directed programming which strikes a balance between technical and tactical skills as well as free-skiing, coached drills, and gate training.

● Review and share daily video breakdown and feedback. 

● Help coordinate and run the FSA Thanksgiving Colorado camp. 

● Help set the race schedule. 

● Coordinate the plans and provisions for the team’s requirements for out-of-town competitions including transportation, accommodation, equipment, and race entries for athletes. 

● Assist Head Coach/Director with venue management and safety. 

● Lead athlete equipment selection, preparation, and maintenance. 

● Drive the team van to and from practice sessions. 

Expectations

The U16/U18 FSA coach is expected to foster an environment that encourages athletes development, teamwork, and competitiveness in a rich-learning environment. The coach should have a strong ability to work with athletes across advanced stages of skill, age, and competitiveness. 

● Model professional behavior on and off the hill.
