2024-25 Season NATC FIS Assistant Coach

The National Alpine Training Center Ski Team Association (“NATC”) is a member club of the Nakiska Alpine Ski Association (“NASA”) located in Calgary, AB. NASA consists of six independent ski clubs comprising 330+ athletes and 40+ coaches. Working in conjunction with the other NASA member clubs, NATC is committed to delivering an annual athletic program with 100+ dryland days and 110+ days on snow to Canada’s next generation of FIS athletes so they can attain their maximum individual athletic potential. 

Reporting to the NATC Head Coach (HC), the NATC Assistant Coach plays a key role in developing our young talent and providing our NATC team with athletes possessing a solid technical base, tactical knowledge, work ethic, passion, and a desire to succeed. 

Responsibilities 

• Work with HC in designing daily goals for training sessions based on the focus of each block  of training. 

• Provide a safe and challenging on-snow training environment appropriate for athletic  development. 

• Deliver dryland training program as outlined by the HC and Strength and Conditioning  coach. 

• Course setting, video analysis and timing set-up. 

• Take ownership of the athletes’ development. 

• Submit expenses to LC in a concise, complete, and timely manner. 

• Keep up to date training statistics, attendance records and complete report cards for all  athletes. 

• Ensure all athletes abide by the NASA Code of Conduct. 

• As needed, assist in the expense reporting post competition or training camps.

• As needed, assist in the planning and organizing of training camps and/or competitions.

• Ability to travel abroad for camps and races and drive team van to training and competition  venues as needed. 

• Work with NASA Transportation Safety Officer (TSO) to ensure all NATC vehicles are  operating in compliance with the NASA Driver Safety and Vehicle Maintenance Program.

• Ensure all NATC issued equipment is maintained and operational throughout the season.

• Understand the full NASA program and its structure. Actively promote the Club to internal  and external parties.

Qualifications  

• 5+ years’ general ski coaching experience or 2+ years’ experience coaching at U16 or higher. 

• Prefer ACA Performance Level (PL) Certified or willing to obtain. 

• Personal high-level competition experiences an asset. 

• Valid Alberta Class 4 driver’s license or willing to obtain.  

• Strong understanding and knowledge of the Alpine Canada Long Term Athlete Development  (ACA LTAD) plan, and the skills pathway.  

• Team player, able to work well and communicate with other members of a larger coaching team and with coaches from other clubs and programs as required.  

• Experience working effectively with parents, officials, athletes, coaches, and other stakeholders.  

• Results oriented, highly motivated and holds self and others to a high standard. 

•Physical ability to carry heavy loads, ski with heavy loads, and in general have a high level of  physical ability, energy, and stamina. 

• Professional and dedicated.  

• Ability to travel significantly in Canada and internationally.

2024-25 Season U16 Assistant Coach

The Kananaskis Alpine Ski Club (“KASC”) is a member club of the Nakiska Alpine Ski Association (“NASA”) located in Calgary, AB. NASA consists of six independent ski clubs comprising 330+ athletes and 40+ coaches. Working in conjunction with the other NASA member clubs, KASC is committed to delivering an athletic program with 75+ dryland days and 95+ days on snow to Canada’s next generation of U16 alpine skiers so they can attain their maximum individual athletic potential. 

Reporting to the U16 Head Coach (HC), the U16 Assistant Coach plays a key role in developing our young talent and providing our U16 team with athletes possessing a solid technical base, tactical knowledge, work ethic, passion, and a desire to succeed. 

Responsibilities 

• Provide a safe and challenging on-snow training environment appropriate for athletic  development. 

• Deliver dryland training program as outlined by the HC and Strength and Conditioning coach.
