Aspen, Colo. – Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt won his fifth super-G of the season and captured his first super-G World Cup title. Notably, Odermatt has also been on all seven of the 2022-23 super-G World Cup podiums.

Finishing second, Germany’s Andreas Sanders (+0.05) earns his first podium of the season. It is also Germany’s first men’s super-G podium of the season. However, Sanders has won seven World Cup super-Gs during his career.

Norway’s Aleksander Aamodt Kilde finished third. Before today, he was the only racer with a mathematical chance of overcoming Odermatt for the discipline season title. However, after today’s race, it is no longer possible. Nevertheless, Kilde will leave Aspen as the season’s downhill champion.

Odermatt continues to prove that he is the best male skier in the world. He is nearly unbeatable regarding the giant slalom and super-G when conditions are fair. His transitions are incomparable and he has an uncanny ability to identify a course’s line and timing. Additionally his athleticism allows him to take risks few can execute.

The fastest North American of the day was bib 51, Canadian Riley Seger, who finished 10th. He earned his first career top-10 finish and it is on his home continent.

Canada’s James Crawford has performed at a very high level all season and did it again today. He is the highest-ranked North American super-G and downhill skier. Today, he was among the fastest, tying for 11th. Joining him and Seger in the top 20 was their teammate Jefferey Read, who finished 21st. Read is experiencing a breakout season and has qualified for his first World Cup finals.

The fastest Stifel US Alpine Team members of the day were bib 45, Jared Goldberg and bib 52, Erik Arvidsson. Goldberg and Arvidsson delivered their career-best super-Gs by ending the day tied for 14th, a great way to end the regular season while racing on home soil. Joining them in the top 20 was Ryan Cochran-Siegle. RCS certainly did not have the season he is capable of, but he will be the only US male racing super-G at the Soldeu, Andorra World Cup finals.

Erik Arvidsson

“It was just a really cool feeling to, to hear the crowd when I crossed the finish line I was stoked. It’s like you put so much effort into it and I was really disappointed on yesterday, so to throw one in there felt really good.”

Jared Goldberg

“The light was kind of in and out, so I was going to push as hard as I could because there’s that uphill up top. So I was trying to go really fast there and then I was really on the limit coming down the pitch. I was getting a lot of angles and almost hip-dragging sometimes. I was trying to have a solid fast run and try to pick up points and help myself out for next year and I did it.”

Ryan Cochran-Siegle

“You know, at this level, you have to have everything work together in order to be successful. The best skiers in the world show that it doesn’t matter what the course set is, what the hill is, or what the snow is, they bring it. They know that limit, that’s what you have to find.”

The other US skier among the top 30 is Bryce Bennett. Bennett finished 28th and scored super-G points for only the second time this season.

The US ended the super-G regular season on a high note with four team members earning World Cup points. It is a high mark for the season and the performances of Arvidsson and Goldberg were exceptional.
