The first run of the Women's World Cup giant slalom in Soldeu Andorra could not create a significant time differential. After the first seven racers had skied, only (0.67) separated the group. Notably, the woman who delivered the slowest time from the group was the season's GS leader, Switzerland's Lara Gut-Behrami. The fastest of the group was Italian Marta Bassino.

Peter LangeFeb 10, 2024Switzerland's Daniel Yule was the slowest first-run skier to qualify for the finale. That made him the first skier to attack the final run. So when he defended his lead through 29 challengers to win the Chamonix slalom, he made World Cup history. Being the first to do so is extraordinarily special. He accomplished his miracle with a second run that was (-0.64) faster than anyone else.
Peter LangeFeb 04, 2024Chamonix's Verte race venue buzzed with anticipation as the world's top racers geared up for a thrilling showdown. Amidst the towering peaks and eager spectators, French favorite Clement Noel vowed to dazzle his home crowd. And dazzle he did.
Peter LangeFeb 04, 2024Skiing with bib eight, Marco Odermatt became the first man to earn his second World Cup super-G victory of the season. Odermatt used the harder race surface to push the entire course and cross with the lead. Undoubtedly, the season's super-G leader was determined to avoid missing his second consecutive podium. Peter LangeJan 06, 2024Mikaela Shiffrin dominates in World Cup Slalom with her 93rd career victory. She overwhelms her opponents taking a (-2.34) lead over second place Lena Duerr. US now has most women's victories in history, thanks to Shiffrin!
Peter LangeDec 29, 2023Goodness gracious, Mikaela Shiffrin left the Courchevel night slalom and went to work to improve. She seems to have achieved the impossible; the best got even better. Skiing with bib seven and her US Stifel teammate, Paula Moltzan, in the finish with a significant lead, Shiffrin delivered a run that left no doubt about her dominance. Moltzan was a rocket with a few testing bobbles typical of skiing at the limit, but Shiffrin was faster (-1.14).
Peter LangeDec 29, 2023When Stifel US Ski Team's Mikaela Shiffrin is at the top of her game, she is nearly impossible to beat. She left the second run start with a (-1.25) advantage and skied powerfully but used a more conservative line. Taking full advantage of the wisdom of a veteran champion.
