Snow Australia is seeking expressions of interest for a coaching opportunity with the Australian Para Alpine High-Performance Team.

The role would best suit an experienced, knowledgeable, passionate and dynamic individual to fill the role of Para Alpine High Performance Team Technical Coach.

The Australian Para Alpine High Performance Team trains year-round, starting in the Australian domestic winter, in preparation for the international stage through the northern winter on the FIS Para Alpine World Cup Circuit, with a World Championship and Paralympic Games focus every two and four years. 

Para Alpine Team Technical Coach

The position is full-time working with the Para Alpine High-Performance Team, with connections to the development pathway through domestic activity and camps. In collaboration with the Para Program Manager, the coach will set up an environment promoting the development and performance of athletes. Coaches are responsible for leading and executing Para Alpine Team vision to achieve podium performances at World Cup, World Championships and the Paralympic Winter Games.

Primarily responsible for coordinating and leading technical on-snow training throughout the year for a range of para-athletes, with the key aims of developing technical and athletic abilities and fostering a vibrant training environment. Other responsibilities include; high-performance planning and execution of team annual training and competition plans and coordinating with athlete performance support service providers to ensure the best possible holistic athlete development, in daily training and competition environments.

This role requires dynamic leadership, and the ability to contribute to a positive team environment and culture to allow each athlete to reach their potential on and off snow. The Para Alpine Team Technical Coach will be required to work in collaboration with other coaches and teams to ensure the best possible training environment, a confident communicator with athletes from different backgrounds and disabilities and at different stages of athletic development, as well as team staff and other program stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Experience coaching FIS Alpine (technical and speed events) or equivalent experience on the Para Alpine circuit
  • Leadership skills to develop and contribute to the development of a High Performance team and to build strong relationships and credibility with athletes, coaches and support staff
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain one)
  • Ability to travel and commit to the team schedule- domestic an international camps
  • Experience working with Para Alpine athletes, a clear understanding of Para classifications and adapted equipment and FIS rules is preferable but not required
