Mikaela Shiffrin is gearing up for the Flachau Austria Night Slalom on Tuesday, January 16th. However, her focus isn't solely on the race; it's also on her boyfriend, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, a world-class skier who recently faced a challenging downhill crash at the Lauberhorn in Wengen, Switzerland.
Today belongs to France's Cyprien Sarrazin. He earned his first World Cup super-G podium, a decisive victory. He is also the first French skier in 54 years to win a World Cup speed event in Wengen.

The women's last first run of 2023 was spectacular. The current World Cup discipline leader, Mikaela Shiffrin skied as she has for most of the year, which is inspirational. Although her lifelong rival, Slovakia's Petra Vlhová, skied brilliantly, she could not execute through the most challenging hairpin with the skill of the world's best. Stifel US Ski Team's Shiffrin will ski last again on the second run and poetically close out 2023. Although Shiffrin was only (-0.17) faster than Vlhová, the Slovakian finished the first run (-1.06) faster than third-place Austrian Katharina Liensberger.
Stifel U.S. Ski Team's 31-year-old 6' 7" Bryce Bennett wins his career second Saslong World Cup downhill. Skiing with bib 34 and taking advantage of the improving light, the 2021 Val Gardena/Gröden champion does it again.
