Schedule includes nine days of races in the State of Utah throughout January 2024

SALT LAKE CITY – The four-time defending NCAA Champion Utah Ski Team has finalized its 2024 schedule, as the RMISA unveiled a slate that includes five regular season meets ahead of the NCAA Ski Championships in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

The schedule begins on January 2, kicking off nine days of competition that month entirely in the State of Utah. Nordic teams will begin the season in Midway, Utah, at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center with RMISA qualifier races on January 2, 4 and 7. Each of the three qualifiers will take place within the U.S. Cross Country National Championships.

Action will then shift to the Utah Olympic Park for the beginning of the alpine schedule. The alpine-only Westminster Invitational will include giant slalom (Jan. 8) and slalom (Jan. 10) races at the UOP, serving as a lead-in to the Utah Invitational. Teams will remain at the UOP for the alpine half of the Utah Invitational on January 9 and 11, followed up with a return to Soldier Hollow for Nordic races on January 12-13.

After almost three weeks off, teams will return to the snow in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, at the Spencer James Nelson Colorado Invitational. A separate giant slalom qualifier is scheduled on February 1, before the double-dip in competition with the meet’s alpine and Nordic races taking place together on February 2-3.

It’s then a quick turnaround for alpine teams which will continue on to the Denver Invitational. Loveland Ski Area will host slalom races on February 5-6, while Nordic squads will descend on Maloit Park in Minturn, Colorado, for events on February 9-10.

Montana State will play host to the 2024 RMISA Championships, with the alpine half at Big Sky Resort on February 23-24 and Nordic at Crosscut Mountain Sports Center on February 24-25. There will also be a separate alpine qualifier on the front end; it’ll be in giant slalom on February 22 at Big Sky.

The 2023 NCAA Championships took place out in Lake Placid, New York, meaning 2024 is a West year and as such Colorado will host the title meet in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. GS and slalom will be held on March 6 and 8, respectively, will the freestyle and classic competitions set for March 7 and 9.

Under director of skiing Fredrik Landstedt, Utah has won the last four NCAA Championships (2019, ’21, ’22, ’23), an unprecedented feat in the mixed-gender era of NCAA skiing. In a 2023 title meet that came down to the wire, Utah came away with its 16th team championship all-time and 15th NCAA crown. The Utes won all four women’s races out in Lake Placid, becoming the first program since 2018 to rack up four individual national champions in the same year. Novie McCabe was victorious in both the 5K freestyle and 20K classic and Madison Hoffman capped one of the greatest comeback stories in collegiate skiing, sweeping the 2023 women’s slalom and giant slalom after missing much of 2022 due to injury. Thirteen All-America citations for the Utes tied the most of any school.
