HANOVER, N.H. The men’s alpine and Nordic teams propelled the Vermont Catamounts to their 19th straight EISA Carnival victory at the Dartmouth Skiway and Craftsbury Outdoor Center this weekend. UVM recorded 926 points to remain unbeaten so far this year. Dartmouth placed second at its home meet with 841 points and was followed by New Hampshire in third with 791 points.

The men’s alpine team finished first in both the giant slalom and slalom races in the team standings, while the men’s Nordic team placed first in the classic and freestyle races as a team.

After leading at the halfway mark, UVM freshman William St. Germain posted his second win of the season as the Catamounts went 1-3-4 in the men’s slalom. Freshman Sandy Vietze finished on the podium for the second straight day with a third-place finish, and Taylor Wunsch finished fourth to give UVM three skiers in the top five in the event. Middlebury’s Rob Cone finished second, just .04 seconds off St. Germain’s winning pace.

Dartmouth continued its solid home streak in the women’s slalom where Maisie Ide and Lizzie Kistler went 1-2. Catamount Elli Terwiel collected her 13th EISA podium result by finishing third.

In the men’s Nordic races, Vermont’s Jorgen Grav won the classic race, his fourth career victory on the EISA circuit. Teammate Cole Morgan finished second for his second podium appearance of the season and Tobias Trenkle also helped out the Cats with a fourth-place result. Dartmouth’s Fabian Stocek rounded out the podium in third.

On the women’s opening day, Middlebury’s Heather Mooney cruised to the classic sprint victory ahead of Dartmouth’s Corey Stock and New Hampshire’s Annika Taylor who claimed second and third, respectively.

In Saturday’s freestyle race, the Catamounts swept the men’s podium led by Rogan Brown who claimed his career first EISA victory. Teammate Grav followed up in second and Jack Hegman was third.

A familiar women’s podium materialized on Saturday as New Hampshire’s Taylor outpaced Middlebury’s Mooney for the victory and Dartmouth’s Stock followed in third.

EISA racing now moves on to Middlebury, Vt. for the 92nd Middlebury College Carnival held Feb. 13-14.
