Where do the North American women rank after Semmering
To date, there have been 108 women who have scored World Cup points during the 2022-23 season. Fifteen of them are from North America. Ten are from the United States,` and five are from Canada. Combined, they represent almost 14% of the women who have scored during the 2022-23 season through Semmering.
Eighteen nations have at least one athlete on the list. Austria has 20 women who have scored, Switzerland has 16 and Italy has 15. However, Switzerland leads the women’s Nations Cup with 390 more points than Austria and 391 more than Italy. The US women are currently 4th, trailing the Swiss by 720 points.
However, Mikaela Shiffrin has contributed 875 of the 1303 points scored by the US women. Shiffrin also leads Petra Vlhova in the individual overall by 369 points.
Three US women, Ava Sunshine, Zoe Zimmermann, and Lauren Macuga, have scored their first career World Cup points this season. They are three of the ten women worldwide who have done so. Sweden is the only country besides the US with more than one and it has two.
Shiffrin has scored in all four disciplines and has won in slalom, giant slalom, and super-G. The North American women have accumulated eight podiums this season. Shiffrin has seven, a career total of 80 and Paula Moltzan recently earned her career first in Semmering.
Bella Wright, Breezy Johnson, Paula Moltzan, and Katie Hensien have scored in two disciplines. Additionally, all five Canadians and the other five US women have scored in one.
