The Marriot Western Regional J3 Championships were hampered by weather, but they got in enough racing to allow guys like Garret Driller, James Lebel and Cody Wilson shine bright enough to establish their credentials among peers.

Lebel got the headlines in claiming victory in the super G and GS at Squaw Valley, but Driller posted second in all three races held (super G, GS and slalom) while Lebel was 11th in the slalom total, a race won by Wilson. Wilson had posted results of fourth in SG and sixth in GS, one of few to collect single digit results in all three races.

On the women’s side – where just the super G and slalom were held – the results were widely split between the speed skiers and the slalomists. Breezy Johnson, Marie Johnson and Stephanie Lebby went one-two-three respectively in the super G, but none of them made the top 10 of slalom. Lebby was 11th. It hardly mattered, as Isabella Wright was absolutely dominant in the race, winning the J3 slalom crown by a whopping 2.76 seconds. She had also placed fifth in the super G making her the consensus big dog of the women’s half of the meet. Sierra Ryder was second in slalom and Erica Christian third.

Behind Lebel and Driller in the men’s SG was Addison Dvoracek in third, Wilson fourth, Bryan Bailey fifth and Lucas Underkoffler sixth. Third in men’s GS was Erik Arvidsson, Dvoracek got fourth, Keith Moffat fifth and Wilson sixth. Behind Wilson and Driller in slalom was Chris Astle in third, Pieter Weemaes fourth, Dylan Sondrup fifth and John Michael Fabrizi in the sixth spot.

In women’s super G it was Johnson, Johnson, Lebby with Julia Cashell in fourth, Wright in fifth and Diana Abbott sixth. Slalom was Wright, Ryder and Christian with Kyla Miller fourth, Silver Brelsford fifth and Elizabeth Swoboda sixth.
