Who is racing, when are they racing, and how to watch the men’s World Cup finals GS
The season’s top-ranked men have been invited to race in tomorrow’s giant slalom World Cup final. Additionally, the Junior World Champion from each discipline qualifies to race in their event. Notably, France’s Junior World Champion Alban Elezi Cannaferina will be racing in his first World Cup but did race in the World Championship GS in Courchevel, France; he finished 27th.
Unfortunately, Germany’s Alexander Schmid and Norway’s Atle Lie McGrath are recovering from knee surgery and will not participate in the GS final. However, Vincent Kriechmayr will use the privileges earned by being a 500+ point skier; he has 953 and will compete. Kriechmayr scored four GS points in the opening Sölden GS in October, the only GS he skied.
Marco Odermatt has already achieved the men’s 2023 season GS title. He won six of the eight 2022-23 giant slaloms that he raced. Notably, he skipped the January 25th Schladming giant slalom because he was recovering from a knee strain experienced during the first of two Kitzbühel downhills in January.
