Swiss ski star Michelle Gisin suffered a serious crash today during the second downhill training run in St. Moritz. The 32-year-old was evacuated by helicopter to a local clinic, where initial examinations revealed injuries to her right wrist, left knee, and cervical spine.

Due to the cervical spine injury, Gisin was transferred by Rega to the Hirslanden Clinic in Zurich, where she is scheduled to undergo surgery later today. According to the Swiss Ski Team, Gisin is “doing well given the circumstances” and is able to move her arms and legs normally — an encouraging sign following such a significant impact.

Further evaluation and treatment of her wrist and knee will take place once her cervical spine has been stabilized.

The entire ski racing community is sending Michelle strength, support, and heartfelt wishes for a smooth and full recovery. ❤️‍🩹
