Men’s Super-G Returns to Kitzbühel With the Deepest and Most Unpredictable Speed Field of the Season

The men’s Alpine World Cup speed field returns to Kitzbühel on Friday for the sixth men’s super-G of the 2025–26 season, racing on the Streifalm as part of the Hahnenkamm program. The race starts with 63 athletes from 16 nations on the official start list. Information on how and when to watch is included with race coverage.

Super-G has emerged as the most volatile discipline on the World Cup calendar this Olympic season. Results have shifted week to week, margins have stayed razor thin, and no athlete has managed to repeat at the top.

Five Races, Five Winners: Super-G Stays Wide Open

Through five World Cup super-G races this season, the discipline has produced five different winners, a clear signal of how little separation exists among the sport’s best super-G skiers.

The podium picture reinforces that depth. So far, 10 different skiers have reached a super-G podium, representing five different countries.

Super-G podium distribution (15 total podiums):

  • Austria (AUT): 6
  • Switzerland (SUI): 5
  • Italy (ITA): 2
  • Norway (NOR): 1
  • Czech Republic (CZE): 1

Austria and Switzerland continue to anchor the discipline, but the absence of a repeat winner underscores how quickly outcomes can vary from venue to venue.
