Huetter returns to snow for first time in 7 months
Almost exactly seven months after her injury, Austrian speed skier Cornelia Huetter returned to snow at Stilfser Joch near Stelvio Pass. The 24-year-old athlete suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in the right knee as well as a tear of the meniscus last January while training super-G.
Huetter finished early in the morning after making ten free runs and was relieved and enthusiastic.
“The feeling was right back from the beginning,” she shared. “I just slipped a few turns, and then everything was as if nothing had happened especially with the new skis. It was really cool!”
Although she did not have the opportunity to test the new equipment during her time off snow, Huetter decided to make the switch to HEAD skis. She signed with them back in May.
“If you want to change, then it fits,” she said. “It was never an issue for me that I could not do it despite the injury. ”
During the next three weeks, Huetter plans for regular training sessions, and she will be involved in overseas training in Chile. The Austrian speed ladies travel to the four-week training camp in La Parva, Chile, at the end of August.
