SL champ Marco Schwarz injured during training, out 6 weeks

Nov 03, 2021

Marco Schwarz tore his front syndesmosis ligament in his left ankle while training in Resterhöhe Wednesday. The Austrian will not need a surgery to repair the tear, and his doctor expects it will take roughly six weeks for him to get back on snow, as long as it heals well.

After receiving the result of the examination at the Kitzbühel Health center, Schwarz was quoted saying, “That is luck in misfortune. I threaded and then it ate my ski. That went stupid. Now I’ll start rehabilitation and therapy right away and see that I can get back to the ski circuit as quickly as possible.”

As a competitive force on the World Cup circuit, the 26-year-old Austrian is already eager to get back on snow and in gates. While six weeks is a significant amount of time, he is able to start rehab on his ankle immediately because he will not be undergoing a surgery. If all goes well, the 2021 World Cup slalom champion will be able to return to snow by mid-to-late December.
