Last year’s winner Vlhova to skip Lech/Zuers parallel
Petra Vlhova will not start the parallel slalom in Lech this coming weekend. Instead, she plans on taking the time to prepare for the World Cup slaloms in Levi Nov. 20-21 and the Killington World Cup on Nov. 27-28. She currently has a third place GS finish under her belt from Soelden, sitting behind Mikaela Shiffrin and Laura Gut-Behrami in the most recent World Cup standings.
Vlhova won the Lech/Zuers parallel slalom last year. While these points were valuable contributions to her overall World Cup win in the 2020-21 season, she does not have the same goals this year. She also sees value in the more mainstream events, and can prepare better for the Levi and Killington World Cups if she reduces travel.
Before the Soelden World Cup, Vlhova told reporters that she was prioritizing Olympic medals over World Cup globes this season. Limiting travel and targeting GS and slalom races will help her achieve that goal.
