The 86th Fisk Trophy Race took place on February 9. The Fisk Trophy Race is an iconic event at Saskadena Six (formerly known as Suicide Six) and it is the longest-running ski race in North America.

The Notable past winners include Chip Knight, Jimmy Cochran and many other Olympians, US Ski Team members and NCAA Champions.

This season’s edition started with a broken lift, but even that did not slow down the Fisk Trophy Race. Saskadena Six provided snowcats to get the field to the first inspection and offered pigs in a blanket at the start.

However, the lift started spinning at 10:00 and the race began at 10:30 and by finishing the race by 1:30, they were able to complete the competition before the arrival of the two o’clock rain.

This year, UVM’s Mathias Tefre joined this list of winners. In second place was Preston O’Brien, who skis for Dartmouth College. Rounding out the podium in third place was another UVM Catamount, Joachim Jagge Lindstoel.
