On Thursday, the International Ski Federation (FIS) announced that the snow control of the Chuenisbaergli slope in Adelboden, Switzerland, was positive for the men’s World Cup giant slalom and slalom races scheduled for Jan. 10 and 11, 2015.

FIS Race Director Hans Pieren confirmed the successful check of the famed Chuenisbaergli.

“Currently we have 50 centimeters to 1.5 meters artificial snow on the slopes and excellent conditions. The race track will be open to visitors until Jan. 3. Each trip (down the slope) compacts the snow and is good for the runway,” said Pieren.

Recent cold days allowed for a very intense preparation in Adelboden, and the temperatures should remain low in the future.  The venue was able to produce 500 cubic meters of snow per hour under these optimal conditions. Additionally, the area received 50 cm of natural snow in the 48 hours leading up to Jan. 29.
