Yule Ends 19-Year Partnership With Fischer

Just over a week ago, Daniel Yule announced he will no longer race on Fischer skis during the 2025–26 Olympic season, signing instead with Atomic. His decision ends a 19-year partnership between the Valais slalom ace and the Austrian ski brand based in Ried im Innkreis.

Ginnis Reflects on a Lifetime With Fischer

Greek skier Alexandros Ioannis “AJ” Ginnis has spent even more time on Fischer skis—nearly 30 years.

“I was born in November 1994, and by January 1996, my parents had Fischer skis on my boots,” Ginnis wrote today on social media. “From that moment on, Fischer wasn’t just a brand – it became a part of me.”

The 2023 World Championship silver medalist offered what sounded like a heartfelt farewell to the company that helped launch his career—and his father’s, who raced for Greece on Fischer.

“For almost three decades, through every chapter of my life—from Greece to Austria, to the USA, and back again—Fischer has been with me,” Ginnis wrote. “Through the triumphs and the heartbreaks, the injuries and the comebacks, Fischer has been more than just a ski company to me. It has been a constant. A comfort. A family. Saying goodbye is never easy. But sometimes even the best stories need a new chapter.”

Injury Forces Early End to 2024–25 Season

That new chapter has already begun. Ginnis’s 2024–25 season ended after just two races last November. While training off-snow, he fractured an osteophyte—a bone spur that had built up in his knee over time. Leaving it untreated risked the fragment breaking loose and locking the joint. Ginnis paused his season and turned his attention to a comeback on a new ski brand.

No one has confirmed the switch publicly, but skinews.ch reported last week that Ginnis is likely joining VanDeer-Red Bull Sports.

Eyes on Olympic Debut in 2026

He also has a new goal: to finally compete in the Winter Olympics. Ginnis missed the 2022 Games after tearing his right ACL in August 2021 during a training session with mini-tilt poles at Snow Valley, USA.

Coaching Changes Follow Equipment Switch

The brand switch also signals changes to Ginnis’s coaching staff. He will no longer work with head coach Magnus Andersson. Assistant coach Thomas Woolson and long-time service technician Primoz Finzgar will also depart the team.
