For the second consecutive season, Norway’s 30-year-old Aleksander Aamodt Kilde proved himself as the World’s best male downhill racer. As with every World Cup winner, Kilde exists at the edge of what is possible. However, when he crosses the risk line, he uses his considerable athleticism and strength to minimize the damage. As Kilde has sharpened his skills and gained valuable course experience, he has become one of the most successful downhill racers in the sport’s history.

Kilde’s most significant advantage over the rest of the best is his size and power. While they all ski very well, he can stay centered above his feet when many World Cup podium downhillers become compressed and pushed toward the tails of their skis. This strength has allowed him to take on risks others would not survive.

Kilde won the overall in the Covid shortened 2020 season but is fully capable of doing it again. Although he is 30 years old his best is yet to come. He is also a committed professional who knows all the details that are required to win at the top level. As long as he is motivated to work hard, expect amazing things from the Norwegian.
