New Zealand’s Alice Robinson burst onto the World Cup scene in a big way during the 2018/19 season. Since her debut in January 2018, the giant slalom specialist has climbed her way through the world ranks with prowess. She walked away from Val di Fassa, Italy crowned World Junior giant slalom Champion, beating her competitors by over a second to become New Zealand’s first athlete to win the event. She then went on to World Championships in Are, Sweden to earn her first top-20 finish in the world ranks, after winning the second run by three-tenths of a second over Slovakian superstar, Petra Vlhova. She followed up World Championships with yet another top-20 finish in Spindleruv Mlyn in March. Then, to close out the season, Robinson stunned at World Finals in Soldeu, Andorra, when she earned the silver medal in her first-ever podium performance, just three tenths behind the overall crystal globe winner, Mikaela Shiffrin.

Last season, the 17-year-old Kiwi proved she has what it takes to compete alongside the world’s best. Now, Robinson has her sights set on the next step, beating the world’s best. After spending a few seasons training independently, she has joined forces with the International Ski Racing Academy to continue working her way up through the world ranks. With the help of her team at Voelkl International, Robinson’s equipment is dialed in. Throw hours of hard work and dedicated training into the mix, and Robinson has laid out a recipe for success. She’s stood on the second step of the podium, sandwiched between her role models. Now the teen has only one direction left to go – up.
