Leadership transition will take place following the 2026 Olympic cycle as Alpine Canada begins search for next president and CEO.

Alpine Canada announced Wednesday that President and CEO Therese Brisson will leave the organization at the end of summer 2026, concluding nearly six years leading the national governing body through a period of significant transformation.

Brisson joined Alpine Canada in 2020 with a mandate to stabilize the organization and guide a broad strategic and operational overhaul. During her tenure, the federation implemented a new strategic plan, expanded its leadership team, and increased revenue by more than 40 percent—allowing greater reinvestment in sport programs despite relatively flat government funding.

Under Brisson’s leadership, Alpine Canada also launched new World Cup events in Canada and strengthened relationships with key partners including Sport Canada, Own the Podium, the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Committees, sponsors, donors, ski resorts, provincial sport organizations, and clubs.

Athlete performance also improved across Alpine, Para Alpine, and Ski Cross programs during her tenure, highlighted by several historic and record-setting performances at World Cup races, World Championships, and Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Reflecting on her upcoming departure, Brisson said the timing aligns with the end of the current Olympic cycle.

“After nearly six years with Alpine Canada, and at the end of an Olympic Games cycle, this is the right time for me to pursue new challenges and for a new leader to come in and build on the momentum we’ve created together,” Brisson said. “It has been an honour to work alongside such a talented and dedicated team to strengthen the organization and elevate Canadian ski racing.”

She also thanked Alpine Canada’s partners and supporters for their continued investment in the sport.

“Our progress would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our sponsors, donors, and sport-funding partners,” Brisson said. “Your belief in our athletes and your investment in our programs has been instrumental in strengthening our organization and elevating Canadian ski racing on the world stage.”

Alpine Canada Board Chair Tim Dattels credited Brisson with helping guide the organization through a period of growth and change.

“Therese has played a critical role in transforming and strengthening Alpine Canada,” Dattels said. “Her leadership, strategic focus, and commitment to athletes and partners have positioned the organization for long-term success.”

The Alpine Canada Board of Directors will immediately launch a comprehensive and competitive recruitment process for the organization’s next CEO, with the goal of completing the transition ahead of the 2026–27 season.
