The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) approved the 2025 Stifel Birds of Prey Men’s World Cup in Beaver Creek after today’s snow control. Crews now prepare for the traditional three-race weekend — downhill on Friday, super-G on Saturday, and giant slalom on Sunday — with exact start and finish locations still to be determined.
Organizers removed Thursday’s additional downhill from the schedule. The race would have opened the men’s World Cup downhill season, but the change allows crews to focus entirely on the three core Birds of Prey events.
Warm temperatures in recent weeks limited snowmaking, so the local organization developed contingency options. If conditions demand it, workers will shift the finish to the flat above the Golden Eagle Jump and will raise the super-G and GS start positions. However, organizers continue to evaluate the hill daily, and they have not ruled out any option as snow production improves.
FIS and the local organizing committee confirmed their plan to race, and crews continue to work around the clock to take advantage of every opportunity.
All village festivities remain on schedule and begin Thursday, Dec. 4, featuring free live music on Birds of Prey Way and back-to-back showings of Warren Miller’s SNO-CIETY at the Vilar Performing Arts Center.
