Olympian and U.S. skiing legend Bode Miller’s 19-month-old-daughter drowned in a swimming pool near Miller’s Southern California home over the weekend, according to authorities.

According to reports, Miller and his wife Morgan’s youngest child, Emeline Miller, died on Sunday at an Orange County hospital after medical personnel tried unsuccessfully to revive the toddler after being called to a home in the Coto de Caza neighborhood on Saturday evening.

Orange County sheriff’s spokesperson Carrie Braun said that the death was under investigation.

“We are beyond devastated,” said Miller in an Instagram post on Monday evening. “Our baby girl, Emmy, passed away yesterday. Never in a million years did we think we would experience pain like this.”

In the hours since Miller’s announcement, countless supporters have expressed their condolences via social media to the couple and their family.
