Norway’s Henrik Kristoffersen took the opening men’s slalom race of the 2020 season in Levi, Finland, on Sunday, setting the stage for an exciting season of men’s slalom with several top contenders for the title emerging.

After a lackluster start to the season in Soelden, Austria, last month, many eyes were on the 25-year-old to see if he could rebound in Levi. Kristoffersen sat in fourth place after the first run and skied a masterful second run to vault himself into first place. Kristoffersen was joined on the podium by Frenchman Clement Noel in second and Switzerland’s Daniel Yule in third after a snowy second run.

Canada’s Trevor Philp was the lone North American in the points, finishing in 26th place.
