Austria’s Marcel Hirscher took the win in the snowy giant slalom in Val d’Isere, France, on Saturday. The Austrian bested the field by over a second with a combined time of 1:42.99 seconds.
Norway’s Henrik Kristoffersen finished in second place, 1.18 seconds back, and Sweden’s Matts Olsson rounded out the podium in third, 1.31 seconds off of Hirscher’s winning time.
Tommy Ford led the Americans in a career-best sixth place, 1.69 seconds back, and Ted Ligety finished in 25th. Americans Brian McLaughlin, Luke Winters, River Radamus, and Hig Roberts did not qualify for second runs. Ryan Cochran-Siegle did not finish his first run.
