Slovakia’s Petra Vlhova won the women’s World Championship giant slalom under the lights on Thursday evening in Are, Sweden, with a two-run time of 2:01.97 seconds.

Vlhova sat in second after the first run and overtook first-run leader, Germany’s Viktoria Rebensburg, for the gold medal. Rebensburg finished in second place, 0.19 seconds back, and American Mikaela Shiffrin finished in third for the bronze, 0.38 seconds off of Vlhova.


Americans Nina O’Brien finished in 28th and Paula Moltzan did not start her second run after finishing 46th in the first run.
