BREAKING: Shiffrin Wins Fourth Straight Killington Slalom
American superstar Mikaela Shiffrin captured her 42nd World Cup slalom victory and her 62nd overall win on Sunday in Killington, Vermont, tying Austrian great Annemarie Moser-Proell for the second all-time winningest woman.
Shiffrin led by over a second after the first run and her combined time of 1:50.45 seconds was good enough for a winning margin of 2.29 seconds over Slovakian rival Petra Vlhova in second place. Sweden’s Anna Swenn-Larsson rounded out the podium finishers in third place, 2.73 seconds behind Shiffrin.
A tough first run saw much of the American contingent fall victim to the boiler-place ice and challenging set with Paula Moltzan, Nina O’Brien, Katie Henisen, and Foreste Peterson all failing to finish. Keely Cashman was the only other American finisher, clocking in for 52nd place after the first run.
