Slovakian star Petra Vlhova captured her first victory of the 2019-20 season, winning the parallel slalom in St. Moritz, Switzerland, on Sunday.

Under bluebird skies, Vlhova handily won the morning qualification runs and breezed through the opening elimination rounds before facing Sweden’s Anna Swenn-Larsson in the finals. The two tall racers were neck-and-neck for the entirety of the course before Vlhova managed to squeak ahead in the final turn, edging out the Swede by 0.02 seconds for the win.

Austria’s Franziska Gritsch bested Slovenia’s Meta Hrovat in the small final for third place and her first World Cup podium.

Canada’s Laurence St. Germain led the North American contingent in an impressive fifth place.

Nina O’Brien led the Americans with a solid performance, qualifying for the knockout rounds before being eliminated in the 1/16 final.
