Brignone decides to skip Soelden

Oct 25, 2017

Italian superstar Federica Brignone announced on Wednesday that she will not start in the World Cup opener at Soelden. The veteran World Cup skier just recently resumed skiing for the first time since her early return from a South American training camp. She has been dealing with an adductor injury, which the Italian has been doing physical therapy for.

“I’m sorry not to be in such an important race,” Brignone said in a press release from the Italian Ski Federation. “We have well valued every opportunity, but I still do not feel ready for the best result, I continue to work to get back to 100 percent.”

Brignone won at Soelden in 2015, the first of her five total World Cup wins. She also earned a silver medal at the 2011 World Championships in giant slalom.
