The Legacy

Since 1956, Erich Sailer has set the standard as the pioneer for summer ski racing camps in the United States. His life’s work focused on motivating and building champions in skiing and in life.

Erich Sailer’s philosophy remains the foundation of our program: basic fundamentals, natural movement, and repetition that produces racing speed.

As Lindsey Vonn once reflected:

“Erich always told me that my technique and style were what made me fast. He taught me to stick with it and I’ve never forgotten that.”

Today, Martina Sailer, Erich’s daughter, and 7-time Olympian Sarah Schleper proudly carry forward that legacy. Martina and Sarah grew up immersed in Erich’s methodology. Together they combine decades of international racing, Olympic experience, and elite coaching to create a training environment rooted in basic skills that make athletes fast and confident.

The Training Environment

Each session delivers six intensive days of high-volume, high-quality slalom and giant slalom training on Lane 1 at Timberline.

June on Mt. Hood offers excellent summer snow and a focused training environment ideal for skill development and repetition.

Athletes train in structured, focused sessions that include:

  • Morning drills and structured warm-up exercises
  • Daily gate training in SL and GS
  • Demonstration-based coaching from elite pacesetters
  • Timing supported by Brower timing systems
  • Daily video analysis
  • Ski-specific dryland, conditioning, and recovery sessions
  • Equipment and tuning workshops
  • Athlete discussions with pace setters on performance, ski psychology and the college path for ski racers

Our staff includes former and current Olympians, National Team athletes, World Pro Ski Tour competitors, and NCAA racers. Coaches demonstrate on course so athletes can watch efficient, natural skiing in real time and immediately apply what they see.

Beyond the Gates

Training extends beyond the course. Camp life includes scenic hikes, ski-specific conditioning, recovery sessions, equipment education, and discussions that deepen understanding of ski racing and long-term athlete development.

Erich believed excellence was built through repetition, the basics, and belief in one’s potential. Martina and Sarah are deeply committed to upholding that standard and continuing the legacy with integrity and purpose.

See you in June!
