About National Alpine Ski Camps (NASC)

NASC offers the best training on Mt. Hood, but that is just part of the story. NASC campers enjoy our private and pristine two-acre riverfront campus at the Salmon River Reserve on Mt. Hood, Oregon. A whole different world of lush surroundings where we eat, sleep, train, and play.

We offer a 10-day camp on Mt. Hood, while most other camps only offer a 5-day camp.

We have a 6-1 athlete-to-coach ratio combined with an athlete-centered approach and ski testing. Our amazing coaching staff effectively assesses and addresses individual motivation and the athlete’s needs. We will provide each athlete a ā€œprescription for changeā€ as they move into competition season. We offer both an all-inclusive overnight program and a day program. We train a 4-day GS block, then a day of white water rafting, and then into a 3-day slalom block. Our after-ski activities include white water rafting, paddleboarding, mountain biking, hiking, and field sports.

The NASC Fall race camp program at Copper Mountain is led by the exceptional staff who also lead the summer camps on Hood, guaranteeing consistent, high-quality training and support that has defined our reputation. As Mt. Hood is to Summer ski race training Copper is to Fall race training. GS and Slalom training is the primary focus at the Fall camp. Similarly to the Mt Hood sessions, coaches will quickly assess the athlete’s motivation, level of understanding, movements, and equipment and then provide drills and a ā€œprescription for changeā€ for each athlete.

The NASC base of operations and accommodations is the Copper Mountain Inn Condos, which is slope-side in Center Village. The full-program campers get daily breakfast at Jackā€™s (just across the plaza) and lunch and dinner at Copper Mountain Inn Condos. Campers have access to our health club, where we often conduct afternoon dryland training and go for a swim. Each day includes tactical discussions and/or video review sessions, including detailed movement analysis, so athletes are ready and focused for the next day. Register for camp now and get on the podium this winter!

Integrated Approach to Ski Race Training

NASC coaches are teachers. We use modern gate progressions (easy to more difficult) to maximize proper movement patterns. We also use drills and skill development progressions to build each of the primary movements (skills). We then integrate the newly developed skills back into the athleteā€™s technique. In the evenings, we have tactical lectures alongside video analysis and may rollerblade through gates to practice what we have learned. From there, we take it to the hill to work on drills and tactics via free-skiing and then move into brushes and gates. On Mt. Hood, NASC builds a WAVE-TRACK to train gates in. No other camp offers this terrain-based learning option. In short, NASC is terrific! Rapid improvements are guaranteed. Check out our website and testimonials at www.skicamp.com.
