Calgary, Alta. (February 2, 2025) – Alpine Canada has announced the 12 athletes who will represent Canada at the 2025 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Saalbach, Austria, from February 4 to 16. The team heads into the championships on a high, with James Crawford’s downhill victory in Kitzbühel last weekend and Canada’s best-ever World Championship performance in 2023 setting the stage for another strong showing.
Canada’s Defending Champions Lead the Charge
The Canadian squad is led by two reigning World Champions:
- James Crawford, who captured Super-G gold in 2023, and
- Laurence St-Germain, who stunned the ski world by winning Slalom gold in Courchevel-Méribel.
With these two at the forefront, Canada looks to build on its momentum and compete for more podiums in Austria.
Momentum Heading into Saalbach
The 2024-25 season has been a strong one for Canadian ski racers. “The team has delivered consistent results and shown steady improvement this season,” said John Kucera, Head Coach of Canada’s Men’s Alpine Ski Team. “We’re excited to get to World Championships and defend our title.”
Laurent Praz, Head Coach of Canada’s Women’s Alpine Ski Team, highlighted the team’s strong internal support and resilience, particularly from athletes overcoming injuries.
