“Cross-country skiing is one of the most physically and mentally demanding sports on an athlete’s body,” said Bruce Jeffries, executive director, Cross Country Canada. “Our national team athletes train extensive hours throughout the year and staying healthy is critical to their pursuit of excellence. We are delighted to be partnering with an industry leader in providing the highest quality nutritional products to ensure our athletes are ready to train and perform at their best each day.”

Under the three-year agreement, USANA Health Sciences will supply the Canadian Cross-Country Ski Team and coaches with multi-vitamin products aimed at different age groups that are produced to meet strict pharmaceutical grade standards. USANA will also provide an on line nutritional information and purchase option for the national ski community through Cross Country Canada and USANA’s Web site https://cccski.usana.com. Proceeds from these purchases will go directly into the Canadian Cross-Country Ski Team program to enhance training opportunities leading to the 2006 Olympics.

“In our fast-food society it is becoming more and more difficult for anyone – especially high performance athletes – to get all of the nutrients the body needs for optimal health from our diets alone,” said Brett Blake, vice-president of marketing, USANA Health Sciences. “Cross-country skiing puts huge demands on the body, and it is therefore crucial to maintain a healthy diet to achieve peak performances and remain healthy. We are happy to help provide these skiers the supplementation they need to make sure their diet contains all the vitamins and minerals the cells of their body rely on.”

During the 2002 Olympic Winter Games, more than half of Canada’s 17 medals came from speed skating athletes – the lone sport team using USANA nutritional products. These athletes have praised the health-enhancing aspects of the products, which allow them to train more consistently and recover faster from injuries and workouts. USANA is now also the official supplier of nutritional supplements for both Gymnastics Canada and Rugby Canada.
