Head Coach – U16 Alpine Ski Program

Reports to: Athletic Director 

Effective Date: July 1, 2025 

Position Summary 

NSA is seeking a passionate and experienced Head Coach to lead our U16 Alpine Ski Program for the 2025–2026 season and beyond. 

This is a full-time, year-round position with responsibilities across both on-snow and off-snow seasons. Reporting to the Athletic Director, the U16 Head Coach is responsible for creating and delivering an inspiring, developmentally appropriate program that supports athletic growth, personal development, and long-term success. 

The role includes planning and coaching, mentoring assistant coaches, communicating with families, and helping foster a culture of teamwork, resilience, and enjoyment. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the planning and delivery of an inspiring and structured U16 alpine ski program. 
  • Design and implement year-round training plans (on-snow and dryland) in collaboration with the coaching team. 
  • Create a safe, supportive, and developmentally appropriate training environment. 
  • Set and maintain courses in accordance with Alpine Canada standards. 
  • Coordinate athlete participation in races, including travel and on-hill coaching responsibilities. 
  • Maintain equipment and training environments. 
  • Provide daily feedback to athletes, fostering growth and confidence. 
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with parents, coaches, and staff. 
  • Serve as a mentor and role model for athletes and assistant coaches. 

Qualifications & Experience 

Coaching Credentials 

  • Certified Development Level (DL) Coach or higher (or international equivalent). 
  • Member in good standing with Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA). 

Experience & Skills 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience coaching performance-level athletes. 
  • Strong technical knowledge of ski racing fundamentals, tactics, and athlete progression. 
  • Prior competitive experience at FIS or collegiate level preferred. 
  • Excellent communication and mentoring skills. 

Personal Attributes 

  • Enthusiastic, team-oriented, and committed to athlete development. 
  • Highly organized with attention to detail. 
  • Passionate about fostering a positive and inclusive team culture. 

Other Requirements 

  • Valid Ontario driver’s license (Class F is an asset). 
  • Safe Sport certification and police clearance required. 
  • Physical ability to work in alpine environments (e.g., setting gates, inclement weather). 
  • Multilingualism (French, Spanish, German) considered an asset.

Head Coach – FIS Alpine Ski Program

Reports to: Athletic Director

Position Summary 

This is a full-time, year-round position with responsibilities across both on-snow and off-snow seasons. Reporting to the Athletic Director, the FIS Head Coach will lead the design and execution of the FIS alpine program, supporting high-performance athlete development through individualized coaching, structured training environments, and strong leadership. This role requires strategic planning, regular athlete evaluations, and proactive communication with parents, athletes, and the broader coaching team. 

This is a leadership position with responsibility for both the day-to-day coaching and long-term athletic development of NSA’s FIS athletes, while contributing to the overall success and culture of the Academy’s alpine programs. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop a comprehensive annual training plan in collaboration with the Athletic Director, including on- and off-snow training schedules and race calendars. 
  • Communicate regularly with athletes and parents to provide updates and feedback. 
  • Implement an age-appropriate dryland training program that aligns with LTAD principles. 
  • Provide high-quality on-snow coaching, including course setting and maintaining training environments according to ACA and LTAD guidelines. 
  • Ensure athlete safety on the hill by coordinating with resort staff and other clubs to manage training space effectively. 
  • Travel with athletes to training camps and races, providing coaching and supervision. 
  • Oversee the care and maintenance of all related equipment, including dryland tools, on-snow gear, and team vehicles. 
  • Conduct regular athlete evaluations, reviewing progress, technical ability, equipment needs, and training goals. 
  • Engage in ongoing coaching development and certification training. 
  • Support the Athletic Director and collaborate with the broader coaching team as needed.

Education Director

Reports to: Executive Director

About the Role 

We are seeking an Education Director to lead and deliver a world-class academic experience that complements the rigour of our alpine program. 

As Education Director, you will oversee all aspects of NSA’s academic programming and work closely with the Athletic Director to ensure student-athletes excel both on the slopes and in the classroom. You will also serve as a mentor and leader to NSA teachers, fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performance learning environment. 

This is a part-time position, with flexibility in scheduling during peak and off-peak periods of the school year. Teaching responsibilities may also be required based on program needs and candidate qualifications. 

Key Responsibilities  

  • Lead all aspects of NSA’s academic program (Grades 9–Post-Grad), including annual schedule development that aligns with alpine training and meets individual student needs.  
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with local schools and online education providers. 
  • Manage the academic budget and oversee resource planning and expenditures. 
  • Complete ONSIS reporting & manage SIS/LMS. 
  • Ensure timely, consistent communication with students, faculty, staff, and parents. 
  • Coordinate academic logistics, including travel-based learning and ensuring access to course materials. 
  • Recruit, mentor, schedule, and evaluate teaching staff; lead performance reviews and professional development. 
  • Develop and oversee student guidance plans; monitor academic progress and adapt strategies in collaboration with teachers. 
  • Ensure the timely creation of student feedback and comprehensive report cards. 
  • Review and sign report cards. 
  • Oversee preparation and coordination of Ministry inspections. 
  • Work in close partnership with the Athletic Director to ensure academic-athletic schedule alignment. 
  • Promote a positive and inclusive student culture through community activities and leadership. 
  • Manage student discipline in accordance with NSA’s code of conduct, including parent communication as needed. 
  • Support recruitment efforts by engaging prospective families and understanding the broader ski racing landscape. 

Qualifications 

  1. Bachelor of Education; Ontario Certified Teacher; Principal’s Qualification Program (PQP). 
  1. Proven academic leadership experience, including curriculum planning, scheduling, and staff supervision. 
  1. Experience in guidance, career, and special education or similar student support roles. 
  1. Proficient in managing academic operations: budgeting, resource allocation, compliance. 
  1. Familiarity with OSSLT administration. 
  1. Skilled in experiential and student-centred learning approaches. 
  1. Strong relationship-builder with experience partnering with families, online providers, and other schools. 
  1. Experience recruiting, developing, and evaluating teaching staff; knowledge of HR practices an asset. 
  1. Effective leadership in dynamic environments with diverse learner needs. 
  1. Comfort with educational technology and modern communication tools. 
  1. Strategic thinker with a collaborative leadership style and a focus on continuous improvement. 
  1. Committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and high-integrity school culture.
