The collegiate alpine racing season delivered a full slate of excitement this past weekend, as teams across the country competed in slalom and giant slalom events spanning every conference. From dominant team performances to standout individual efforts, racers made their mark from New England to the Rocky Mountains.

Eastern Conference

The Eastern Conference featured competition in all divisions, beginning with the Reynolds Division. The University of Maine at Farmington men captured first place in the giant slalom at Mittersill at Cannon Mountain, led by Lance Dolan’s victory and Sam Roy’s second-place finish. St. Joseph’s College of Maine followed in second, highlighted by strong results from Colin Rathbone, Logan Davis, and Jack Price. Bowdoin College rounded out the podium in third.

Similar results followed in slalom at Lost Valley, where UMF once again claimed gold behind a win from Roy, supported by Magnus Riggs and Chase Raven. St. Joseph’s finished second and Bowdoin third, with tight margins separating several top-ten finishers.

On the women’s side, St. Joseph’s College of Maine continued its dominant run. Megan Cook secured a GS victory with a blazing combined time of 1:28.44, while teammates Hannah Golden, Avalyn Beaudin, and Lily Anctil locked in the team win. UMF and the University of Maine placed second and third respectively. Two days later, Cook and Golden again led St. Joseph’s to a slalom victory, with UMF’s Rosie St. Cyr taking the individual win by over two seconds.

In the McBrien Division at Middlebury Snow Bowl, Logan Schwartz of the United States Coast Guard Academy delivered a flawless weekend, winning both the men’s GS and slalom races. USCGA claimed top team honors, with Yale and Marist College also posting strong results. The women’s races saw victories from Kelsey Callihan of Marist in GS and Liva Olina of MIT in slalom, while Anna Erb of URI appeared on the podium in both events.

The MacConnell Division hosted back-to-back slalom races at Proctor Academy. Babson College swept the men’s races, while Castleton University dominated the women’s events behind an outstanding weekend from Elizabeth Worster. Julia Wiacek of Babson claimed the Saturday slalom win with a standout time of 1:33.68.

Midwest Conference

The Midwest Conference opened its season at Wild Mountain, where Northern Michigan University made an immediate statement. The men’s team dominated both GS and slalom, occupying the majority of top-ten spots in each race. Kyan Hopke won slalom, while Reed Heathman led the GS. St. Olaf College and Michigan Technological University completed the podiums.

Northern Michigan’s women were equally impressive, with Tommie Jo Springer sweeping both events. St. Olaf claimed silver in both races, while Michigan Tech and the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities rounded out podium finishes.

Atlantic Highlands Conference

At Blue Mountain, the United States Military Academy men claimed the GS victory behind James Lahrman, while Lehigh University secured the team win. USMA rebounded in slalom to take first overall, with Lahrman again leading the charge.

Columbia University’s women captured gold in GS, supported by strong performances from Emma Baltrusaitis, Meryl Sampson, and Schuyler Daffey. In slalom, Lehigh’s Abi Masillo earned another individual victory, while Rutgers secured the team win.

Allegheny Conference

Penn State University dominated the Allegheny Conference races at Swain Resort. The men claimed both GS races through depth and consistency, while the women controlled both slalom and GS, led by Zoe Parizek’s pair of victories. Carnegie Mellon University and West Virginia University consistently filled the remaining podium spots.

Mideast Conference

At West Mountain, Hobart and William Smith Colleges swept the men’s GS and slalom races, led by Will Patton’s double victory. Cornell University followed closely in second, with Colgate University in third.

The women’s races saw Colgate University emerge as the top team, earning victories in both GS and slalom. Hobart and William Smith took silver in both events, while Hamilton College rounded out the podium.

Grand Teton & Rocky Mountain Conferences

Winter Park hosted a packed weekend featuring both the Grand Teton and Rocky Mountain Conferences. Rocky Mountain College swept all Grand Teton events, with Gaustad Kvinlog Synne claiming both women’s victories and Fredrik Straume leading the men’s GS.

In the Rocky Mountain Conference, the University of Colorado Boulder women dominated both races, placing seven athletes in the top ten during slalom. The Colorado School of Mines men swept both events, led by Schuyler Clapp’s GS victory.

Southeast Conference

At Sugar Mountain, Lees-McRae College captured the men’s slalom win, highlighted by Hunter Post’s individual victory. The GS race saw Georgia Tech’s Derin Berkin take first, while the University of Virginia claimed the team title. Virginia Tech and the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill completed the podium.
