The USA tagged on two more medals Saturday at the Whistler Cup with Breezy Johnson taking the women’s giant slalom silver and Sam Morse landing the men’s slalom bronze. The USA has earned a total of five medals heading into Sunday, final day of racing in Whistler.

Canada added a gold from Lambert Quezel in slalom and a bronze from Kelly Steevers in the K2 events and controlef the men’s slalom of the K1 competition with first and second in men’s slalom from Alex Uryga and Ryan Moffat respectively

Austria Marie Therese Sporer got the women’s GS win with Johnson and Steevers second and third. There was one additional American in the top 10 as Isabella Wright finished eighth.

In the men’s race, Carrabassett Valley Academy’s Morse led the way for the U.S. scoring the bronze. Canada’s Quezel stole the show with consistency to claim the slalom with Slovakia’s Lubomir Murarik taking silver.

“The course was pretty turny. I was skiing pretty smart,” said Quézel, who skis out of Mont Saint-Sauveur, Que. “The snow, it was pretty hard. Same as Quebec. I’m pretty excited – I won the championship.”

Morse led an American trio into the top 10 with Burke Mountain Academy’s Aleck Sullivan and Green Mountain Valley School’s Ryan Mooney finishing back-to-back in seventh and eighth.

The Whistler Cup concludes Sunday with the men’s giant slalom and women’s slalom.
