Alpine Canada (ACA) announced today it has approved the integration of the previously independent Canadian Ski Coaches Federation (CSCF) into its operations over the next six months as part of a restructuring effort to revitalize its domestic programming. Aligning athlete and coach development will enhance opportunities for achievement of long-term athletic development as outlined in Canada’s AIM 2 Win document.

“After extensive consultation with key stakeholders, I believe that enhanced alignment of athlete and coaching development is a key priority for our sport,” said ACA President and CEO Mark Rubinstein. “Accordingly, ACA is committed to ensuring that Canadian ski coaching remains a vital component of our system, in coordination with our athletes, provincial ski associations, clubs and volunteers. The integration of CSCF with ACA will facilitate additional support and resources for coaching education, certification and career pathways.”

The integration of the CSCF into Alpine Canada is being supported positively by both organizations’ Boards of Directors. A Memorandum of Understanding detailing the terms of the integration has been agreed to and signed by both organizations as of Oct. 6. The ACA membership has already approved the integration, but now the membership of the CSCF must vote on Nov. 22 for final approval.

“The strengthened alignment of coaching and athlete programming is the first of several new initiatives being launched by ACA to achieve excellence in Canadian ski racing,” added Rubinstein. “These include athlete and coaching identification camps, enhanced support for Topolino and Whistler Cup races, and improved Snow Stars programming among several others.”
