The Snowbasin superpipe was the center of the freeskiing competitive world tonight (Feb. 11) as ski halfpipe competition of the 2012 Winter Dew Tour came to an exciting conclusion and Devin Logan of Dover, Vermont and Frenchman Kevin Rolland took home the overall ski pipe Dew Cup trophies.

The three-stop tour rolled into Ogden, Utah this weekend after stops in Breckenridge, Colo. and Killington, Vermont earlier this year.

Reno, Nevada’s David Wise took the final leg tonight with a top score of 94.50 points in his second run in the best of two-run format. Wise started with a switch double 1080, into right 9, left 9, alley oop flatspin 5 tail to end with a double cork 12.

“My first run was good, it was really a solid run for me, so I kind of felt like I had to add a little bit of something to it,” Wise said. “The 14 was the first thing that came to mind, so dropping in I was like, ‘OK, I’ll go for that 14 at the end. I know it’s there. It’s just one extra rotation. I can get it.’”

Rolland, finished second tonight with a score of 93 points in his second run after falling in the first round. Rolland secured his second career Dew Cup with a win at the first stop of the tour and ending the season with 307 points.

“It feels really, really great,” Rolland said. “Especially this year because I didn’t get the X Games win and I didn’t get the last Dew Tour.”

Torin Yater-Wallace, winner of the previous tour stop, finished third tonight.

Logan grabbed the first ever women’s ski superpipe Dew Cup with a second-place result at the first women’s event. She clinched the title and the leg win tonight with a top score of 90.00 points in her second run.

“I knew I was in contention for the Dew Cup and just had to come out and put down the best run I could,” Logan said. “I had slope this morning, so I was a bit tired, but I got some energy, found some deep down and ended up doing it, so I’m thrilled.” She also won the slope Semi’s held earlier in the day.

Logan’s second consisted of a Japan grab, to 5 tail grab, flair, mute grab, alley oop critical, 7 mute, to finish with a switch alley oop 5.

Ros Groenewoud or Calgary finished second tonight with 82.50 points. Lake Tahoe’s Maddie Bowman rounded out the podium in third.

Logan was also awarded the Paul Mitchell Breakthrough Athlete of the Year award, largely for her second-place finish in both slope and pipe finals at the Winter Dew Tour’s Pantech Invitational in Killington, Vt.

The slopestyle skiers will have their chance tomorrow as the Dew Tour comes to a close.
