All-America ski racer Tengdin, Daniel J. “D.J.” Tengdin died in a glider crash near Boulder, Colo., April 1 at age 46.

He had graduated from St. Olaf College in 1988, where he was a two time
All-America ski racer and helped lead the team to its first ever
Collegiate National Championship. He was an academic All-American as
well. An MBA degree was earned at Columia University in 1991, after
which he had a career in the financial services industry.

In 1983, he graduated from Edina High School where he captained the
state championship ski team. Buck Hill and it’s race team was a second
home for him since the age of seven.

For the last
fifteen years he was at home in the Denver, Colorado area where he was a
member of Bethany Lutheran Church. As an active member of the Rocky
Mountain Masters Ski program, he won numerous national titles in his age
group.

Other interests included water skiing, golf, fishing, hunting
and the great outdoors. His recent passion for soaring led him to
achieve his private pilot glider license. At the time of the accident,
D.J. was just short of earning his commercial license.

His family and friends describe him as having an extraordinary loving kindness that touched us all. Memorials are preferred to D.J.
