The College of Idaho varsity ski team alumnus Elliott Gould, who grew up competing in the Burke Mountain Academy Junior Program in Vermont, was named associate editor at SkiRacing.com on Sept. 7 with primary responsibility for covering women’s alpine and domestic events. Gould replaces Jessica Kelley who will return to a coaching position in Park City, Utah, but who will continue to contribute regular features for SkiRacing.com.

“Elliott’s background in the sport as an athlete and then coach will bring important perspective and insight to our content,” said Ski Racing International Chief Operating Officer Claire Abbe Brown. “His genuine enthusiasm for ski racing and unique digital media skill set will help SkiRacing.com continue to innovate and elevate the user experience for our global audience.”

He then attended The College of Idaho on a ski racing scholarship. In college, Gould was a three-season athlete, competing in cross-country, alpine skiing, and track and field. In the 2011-12 season, he was named captain of the Yotes ski team and then assistant coach the year following. He graduated from The College of Idaho in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in creative writing and a minor in history.

“Writing for Ski Racing has been a dream of mine since I was a kid, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have that dream realized. More than anything else, I want to thank all of the people who helped foster my passion for writing, skiing, and athletics in general,” said Gould. “The sport of skiing has been such a huge part of my life, and I’m excited to combine it with my passion for writing. Ski Racing has always been at the heart of the conversation going on in the skiing community, and I’m excited to now contribute to that conversation on a daily basis.”

Since graduating, Gould has worked as an admissions representative for The College of Idaho. He is currently in the process of relocating to Park City.
